Artificial Turf Repair in Los Angeles
Lifting edges, visible seams, ripples, burns and flattened blades are all fixable — usually without replacing the lawn. We repair our own installations and, just as often, other people’s.
Most problems have a cause underneath
A seam that has opened, an edge that lifts every summer or a soft, rippling patch is almost never a fault in the turf itself. It is usually a base that was not compacted properly, an edge restraint that was never installed, or a seam that was stapled instead of glued.
So the first thing we do is find out why. Sometimes the fix is a genuine repair — re-seaming, patching, re-fastening, topping up infill. Sometimes a section has to come up so the base can be corrected. We will tell you which one you are looking at before we start, including when the honest answer is that the lawn is at the end of its life.
What we repair
- Open or visible seams
Cut back, re-tacked over fresh seam tape with outdoor adhesive, and weighted while it cures.
- Lifting or curling edges
Re-fastened with close-spaced galvanized fixings, with edging added where none was installed.
- Ripples and soft spots
The turf is lifted, the base beneath re-graded and properly compacted, then the turf re-laid and re-seamed.
- Burns and stains
Damaged area cut out and patched with matching turf, seamed so the repair is invisible from standing height.
- Flattened, tired blades
Deep power-brushing and an infill top-up will bring back most lawns that simply look worn rather than damaged.
- Pet damage and odor
Re-infill with an odor-controlling product, plus drainage correction where liquid has been sitting under the surface.
When to call us
Water sits after rain
The earliest sign of a base or drainage problem, and by far the cheapest moment to fix it.
You can see the seams
Either the seam has opened, or two pieces were laid facing opposite directions. Both are addressable.
The lawn moves underfoot
Usually under-compaction or missing infill — both fixable without replacing the turf.
Small repairs are priced as a call-out plus materials. Larger re-seaming or base corrections are quoted after a look at the area — we will always tell you if replacement is the more sensible option.
Turf Repair — frequently asked
Do you repair turf you did not install?
Yes, and a good share of our repair work is exactly that. We will assess it honestly, including telling you when a repair is not worth the money because the base or the product is at the end of its life.
Will the repair be visible?
A patch in the middle of a lawn is matched as closely as possible for pile height, color and blade direction. In most cases it is invisible from standing height, though an exact match to turf that has been in the sun for eight years is not always possible — we will be upfront about that before we start.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace?
Almost always to repair, unless the base was never built correctly or the turf is past fifteen years. We give you both numbers so you can decide with the full picture.
